The Iwan Wyhowski Award was initiated by the University of Warsaw in cooperation with eight Polish higher educational institutions in order to recognize the merits of Ukrainian citizens in the development of science, culture and public life, the construction of a democratic country and the creation of a civil society, the study of historical, contemporary, and the formation of future Ukrainian ties Ukraine with Poland and Europe.
Each year, two Ukrainian scientists are awarded the prizes, representing the humanities and natural sciences.
The laureates of the aword in the branch of humanities receive an opportunity of 12-month internship at six Polish universities, where they will lecture on topics related to the history and modernity of Ukraine, Ukrainian-Polish relations, work in archives and carry out scientific research. Representatives of the exact sciences, the aword provide a four-month internship and research at two Polish universities.
The selected higher education institutions provide winners with a monthly scholarship of 3,000 zł for Candidates of sciences and 2,200 zł for candidates without a degree, cover tuition and nutrition costs, provide scholarly advices and any other assistance during the stay, provide scholarly literature, and more.
The deadline for applications for the Iwan Wyhowski Award is 15 January each year.
